The WEA website will soon feature a new section entitled “Approaches to Economics”, consisting of short essays describing various approaches to understanding economic phenomena. For each approach we will be recruiting one of its leading figures to write an essay.
Each essay, aimed at economics undergraduates and above, will consist of three parts:
- A very short summary of the approach, 200-300 words.
- A longer account ( 1200 – 2500 words) including its history, current direction and the key characteristics that sets it apart.
- A bibliography of seminal works, with links to those freely available online.
We hope the WEA’s Approaches to Economics will quickly become the standard destination for anyone seeking an accessible short introduction or bibliographical reference to a particular approach, written by one of its luminaries.
